 | | “One of the strengths the AR-CRT brings to its work with victims is its interdisciplinary membership, drawing on the skills and gifts of many people bringing their professional expertise to the scene of a crisis. As a physician, there is a niche for my skills in this team effort that complements the others and it gets me back to my roots in medicine — roots that involve listening to the person in front of me.”
Steven L. Thomason, M.Div., Medical Director Northwest Arkansas Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, AR |
“Your willingness to share your knowledge, skills and expertise will long be remembered. I know that each team member touched many lives and helped to sustain and strengthen Katrina survivors during their time of need.”
Janet Kennedy, Director, Victim Services Mississippi Attorney Generals Office |
“I recommend the AR-CRT training which provides skills in emotional first aid. The training in crisis response is invaluable for everyone even if they never serve on a response team. Being on a response team has also been one of my most rewarding and humbling experiences as a physician.”
Joanna Seibert, M.D., Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics Arkansas Children’s and Hospital and UAMS |
“As a member of the Arkansas Crisis Response Team, it is very rewarding to be able to give back to communities during their time of need. It is also very beneficial to have the skills necessary to handle a crisis in the event that something was to happen not only at work, but at home, at church….anywhere.”
Jennifer Lang, PhD, Hospital Administrator Methodist Behavioral Hospital, Maumelle, AR |
“As a Board member, I often seek interventions for my firefighters. AR-CRT responded to chemical spills, an airplane crash, numerous car crashes and structural fires with deaths. The multi-disciplinary volunteers provide “emotional first aid’ in a timely, confidential and effective manner. It is all about listening – really listening to those who are suffering – whether victim or first responder – so they can go forward in their lives.”
Bart Castleberry, Fire Chief Conway Fire Department, Arkansas |
